Chantepleure, hand-turned medieval watering can
Entirely handmade in terracotta at the Royer Tuilerie (Aube), this medieval ancestor of the watering can delivers delicate watering for seedlings and fragile plants. It sings when immersed in water (with the sound of air bubbles rising to the surface), and weeps when it empties. Submerge the watering can in a bucket or water container to fill it. Plug the opening with your thumb to retain the water. Release your finger, and the water flows out through the pierced bottom.
Instructions: Submerge the weep hole in a bucket or water container to fill it. Cover the opening with your thumb to retain the water. Release your finger; the water will flow out through the pierced bottom.
