Houndstooth kitchen pants
Appearing around the 1880s in the Lowlands of Scotland, the houndstooth pattern was invented to warmly dress shepherds. It is the weaving technique of these threads that gave life to this pattern. Historically associated with kitchen trousers, the Pied de Poule has long been popular with the restaurant industry since the appearance of this pattern in haute couture houses. It has become the pattern par excellence for cooks, butchers, bakers or pastry chefs because it is very effective in hiding the stains that are inevitable in these professions. It is also synonymous with professionalism and respect for traditions.
