Traditional jacou hat

The Jacou, the “sapé” (hat in Savoyard), is at the heart of the identity of the country of Savoy. This hat with wide brims and high crown is handcrafted by the Montcapel Manufacture: the last French millinery still manufacturing a hat from the raw material, the wool, to the finished product, including the bells. 30 to 35 steps are necessary to create this wool felt hat, subtly stiffened but not too much to give it a nice fit. It adorns both female and male heads. Size a little large, allow a size below your head size.
