HISTORY OF NONTRON:
The Nontron knife bears the name of the village where it was born, located in the Périgord Vert. Its origins date back to the 13th century and therefore make it the oldest closing knife in France. The reputation for excellence in metalwork was such that King Charles VII ordered his sword from Nontron. Since 1992 the Coutellerie Nontronnaise has belonged to the Forge de Laguiole which is keen to preserve this magnificent know-how exercised today by around twenty cutlers.
