Pocket knife No. 12 “Chaperon” from Coutellerie Nontronnaise . Fixed ferrule and sabot handle in pyrographed boxwood. The wood was air dried for at least four years before being worked. Over time the handle will take on a pretty honey color.

7 cm Z40C13 stainless steel blade • Fixed ferrule • 9 cm woodburned and varnished boxwood sabot handle • Made in Nontron • Not dishwasher safe

The Nontron knife bears the name of the village where it was born, located in the Périgord Vert. Its origins date back to the 13th century and therefore make it the oldest closing knife in France. The reputation for excellence in metalwork was such that King Charles VII ordered his sword from Nontron. Since 1992 the Coutellerie Nontronnaise has belonged to the Forge de Laguiole which is keen to preserve this magnificent know-how exercised today by around twenty cutlers.
