Product History

At the end of the war, France experienced a leather shortage. Jean Dauphant, first a cutler and then a shoe manufacturer, had the idea of ​​making a plastic sandal, molded in a single body with an injection of PVC (polyvinyl chloride). The initial company was called Plastic Auvergne and the sandal was called "La Sarraizienne". This was the beginning of a love affair with the French and it was not until 1962 that the company devoted itself exclusively to its plastic model, which would bear the name "Méduse" in the 1980s. After a period of decline, the company closed its doors and was taken over in 2003 by the Humeau-Beaupré family group, which retained the original molds and Jean Dauphant's expertise. The company, located in Maine-et-Loire and with 140 employees, relaunched the Méduse to the forefront to make it a flagship product.
